Man dies after car collides with truck on M7

It’s believed the driver of the car may have suffered a heart attack before the crash happened, at around 6am.

A MAN HAS died after a collision between a truck and a car on the M7 Dublin – Limerick motorway this morning.

It happened shortly after 6am close to Junction 12 – the exit for The Curragh. The man’s car crashed into the rear end of the truck.

It’s believed the driver may have suffered a heart attack before it happened. Gardaí said a post mortem examination would determine the cause of death.

The driver of the truck was uninjured in the collision.

A section of the road was closed for around six hours as forensic tests were carried out at the scene and the wreckage cleared. At one point the tailback stretched back to the previous junction.

The restrictions were lifted at around 12.30pm and gardaí said traffic was returning to normal.

The post mortem is due to take place at Naas General Hospital.
