A MAN’S BEEN arrested in connection with an explosion in the Long Lane area of Dublin 8 earlier this year.
The street was closed off overnight after a car exploded at around 11pm on 30 March last.
Gardaí, Dublin Fire Brigade and an Army bomb disposal team all attended the scene.
A man aged in his 20s was detained in Dublin this morning and taken to Kevin Street Station for questioning, gardaí said in a statement this evening.
He’s being held under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
A TheJournal.ie reader sent us the above video from the scene back in March.
He described it as a “huge explosion”.
“I could see a massive fireball go up in the air over the old Meath Hospital,” he said.
I thought the hospital had a gas leak and so went to see what had happened. It turned out to be a car that I had just walked past.
