New garda taskforce seizes €100,000 after stopping truck on M50

A 32-year-old man was also arrested at the scene but has since been released without charge.

GARDAÍ HAVE SEIZED a significant amount of cash after stopping and searching a truck in Dublin last night.

Members of the newly formed special crime task force, which is focused on tackling gangland activity in the city, assisted in the operation.

They stopped and searched a truck at the M50 roundabout at Ballymun shortly before midnight.

During the operation, gardaí discovered cash in excess of €100,000 hidden in the vehicle. They seized the cash and a 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

He was detained at Ballymun Garda Station but has since been released without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
