Man arrested over murder of 62-year-old Cathal Sweeney released without charge

A man in his 50s was arrested earlier today.

A MAN IN his 50s who was arrested earlier today in connection with the murder of  62-year-old Cathal Sweeney has now been released without charge.

Gardaí said this evening that a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Earlier this month, Cathal Sweeney sustained serious head injuries at a house in the Ashdale Gardens area of Terenure, Dublin 6.

He was taken from the scene by ambulance to St. James’ Hospital but was later pronounced dead.

A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is currently before the courts in connection with the investigation.
