Chinese pilots who faked CVs are back in the air

Inquiry found 200 pilots had falsified their flying experience.

CHINESE AVIATION AUTHORITIES have confirmed that the Chinese pilots who lied about their flight experience on their CVs have returned to work.

Reports earlier this month revealed that an investigation in 2008 showed some 200 pilots had lied about their flying background. The pilots had embellished their careers or experience.

It also emerged that the airline involved in an accident which killed 42 people this summer, Henan Airlines, had hired almost half of the pilots who had lied.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China said that the pilots were grounded and would have to be re-examined and tested before being reinstated to their jobs.

Reuters reports that some of the pilots had their licences revoked outright, but others have retrained and are now allowed to fly again. The regulator said procedures had been tightened up to prevent the problem from recurring.
