POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland have seized drugs, cash and cars at a ‘cocaine factory’ in County Antrim.
Officers said drugs – cocaine, cannabis and ecstasy - with a street value of £600,000 (€794,000) were discovered. A further £300,000 (€397,000) in cash was also seized.
Members of the PSNI made the discovery during searches in Newtownabbey on Wednesday and Thursday.
A 33-year-old man and 31-year-old woman were charged with 16 and 13 offences respectively. They are due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court this morning.
The offences include concealing criminal property, converting criminal property and possession of class A, B, and C controlled drugs with intent to supply.
Other items seized included an imitation firearm, 30 mobile phones, amphetamines, drugs paraphernalia including a suspected cocaine press, and steroids.
Three Mercedes AMG cars have also been seized as part of this investigation.
Newtownabbey and Carrickfergus Trainee Superintendent Stephen Reid said the PSNI “immediately launched an operation to shut down this suspected criminal enterprise” after receiving a tip-off from the public.
“This is a very substantial haul in which three luxury cars were seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act. This is a prime example of PSNI officers keeping people safe,” he stated.
