TV3 PRESENTER COLETTE Fitzpatrick is set to be promoted to ‘Senior Anchor’ of the channel’s new news programming.

With the acquisition of UTV Ireland late last year, TV3 rebranded its now three-channel output.

The station’s news programming has now been united as 3News Ireland, of which Fitzpatrick “will take the helm” in “a full-time new role exclusive to TV3″.

She will now present the station’s flagship news bulletins at 12.30pm and 5.30pm each weekday effective from March.

Fitzpatrick already presents three news bulletins each week, together with a role as co-presenter of midweek’s Pat Kenny Tonight.

It’s believed that Fitzpatrick will be quitting her morning presenting duties with Newstalk, where she has co-presented Newstalk Breakfast with Shane Coleman and Paul Williams since September.

Newstalk could not be contacted for comment at the time of publication.

3News Ireland officially launched on 9 January, with new station Be3 taking to the airwaves on the same date as UTV Ireland’s successor.
