A SUSPECT IN a hit and run incident nearly two years ago, who was arrested in Heathrow Airport on Tuesday, is to appear in court again next Wednesday.
It is believed gardaí were made aware that the suspect, who had been in Australia, would be travelling to the UK and they asked the Metropolitan Police for their assistance.
Paud O’Leary was killed while cycling in Kerry the early hours of the morning and his body was discovered several hours later.
The Irish Examiner reports that O’Leary was a father of four and that he was training for a charity cycle.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed to TheJournal.ie that they had arrested a 22-year-old suspect at Heathrow Airport last Tuesday under the extradition act between Ireland and the UK and in conjunction with the gardaí.
They said the suspect appeared in Westminster Magistrates Court yesterday and was remanded in custody. They stated that he is due back in court on 19 February adding that they believed the extradition order was “under way”.
