RAIL SERVICES between Grand Canal Dock and Sydney Parade are to be disrupted for several days – impacting commuter and DART services.

The line is being closed in order to allow for repairs to the Dodder Bridge, just south of Lansdowne Road station, which was damaged during the flooding earlier this week.

There will be no DART service along the line; services will run only between Howth/Malahide to Grand Canal Dock, and from Sydney Parade onward to Greystones. Southside reserves will run on a reduced frequency – around once every 30 minutes – as a result.

Dublin Bus will accept valid rail tickets for the duration of the disruptions.

Trains to Dublin from Rosslare and Gorey will stop at Bray, with bus transfers being provided to bring passengers to Connolly.

Commuter services from the north and west to Dublin will now terminate at Pearse, with Dublin Bus accepting tickets for passengers hoping to travel south of Pearse.

Irish Rail said inspections by divers had revealed damage to the ground around one of the bridge’s support piers. It’s understood works to repair the damage are now being planned and it will then be possible to put a timescale on the works.

Two large trees had lodged under the bridge after being swept downstream by the flooding on Monday evening, causing debris to build up and flood waters to spill over.

Irish Rail tonight said it could not estimate how long the service would be disrupted for, but suggested it would be for “a number of days at least”.
