Dublin's Spire has been turned into a giant lightsaber for Star Wars

A facelift for the nail in the Pale.

IN CASE YOU’VE ever wondered what the real point of the Spire in Dublin was, wonder no more.

It’s about to come into its own and fulfil its destiny… as a lightsaber.

The Dublin premiere of The Force Awakens takes place at the Savoy Cinema on O’Connell Street tomorrow evening, and we can but hope that the Spire will be lit up in a blaze of Star Wars-esque glory.

It’s going to look fantastic if they pull this off.
