Fiancé charged with murder

53-year-old man appears in Belfast court over the death of woman who died on her wedding day.

THE FIANCÉ OF A BELFAST woman who was found dead on her wedding day has been charged with her murder.

Patricia Bardon would have celebrated her birthday and her wedding on Monday, but that afternoon her body was discovered in her flat in Elm Court, off Donegall Pass in the south of Belfast city.

Her partner Paul Stockman, 53, of the same address, was arrested on Monday and appeared in court charged with Bardon’s murder today, BBC Northern Ireland reports.

The court heard that both the defendant and the victim had alcohol problems. They had been in a relationship for five years and were living together at the time of the murder.

Stockman’s lawyer told the court there would be no bail application at this time because the defendant’s home was still a crime scene.

Stockman was remanded in custody and is due to appear again in court next month.
