SEVEN PEOPLE WERE injured in a crush outside a Dublin nightclub last night, gardaí have confirmed to TheJournal.ie.

Units of Dublin Fire Brigade, ambulances and gardaí attended the scene near Camden Place on Harcourt Street at about midnight.

Four people were taken to a local Emergency Department for treatment after what has been described by witnesses as a stampede outside a nightclub.

One 18-year-old female was in a critical condition in St James’ Hospital but is now said to be awake and communicating.

Harcourt Street was closed for a number of hours and Luas services disrupted as a result.

About 1,500 people were queuing outside Copper Face Jacks when the incident occurred. The nightclub was running a ‘Messy Monday’ event where drinks are sold for €3.50 each. Usually an over-21s venue, the nightclub had advertised the evening as one for over-18s for the first time.
