The weather warning comes into effect at 2pm in Galway, Mayo and Kerry.

LAST UPDATE | 2 Jun 2025

GET THE UMBRELLAS back out – Met Éireann has issued a weather warning for three counties with “heavy rain” with “very strong” gusty winds to hit later today.

The national forecaster issued a status yellow rain alert as the recent spell of “fairly unsettled” weather continues.

Heavy rain and very strong, gusty southerly “unseasonable” winds are expected to sweep across the west coast for the afternoon and evening, with conditions set to deteriorate rapidly from 2pm.

Met Éireann said the weather alert will come into effect for counties Galway, Mayo, Kerry from 2pm until 10pm later that night.

Severe weather is expected, with intense downpours and powerful winds particularly affecting coastal regions with strong gusts. Highest temperatures will range between 13 and 18 degrees.

The forecaster warned that the adverse weather conditions may cause localised flooding, poor visibility and difficult driving conditions.

Met Eireann has also issued two Status Yellow marine warnings for gales.

The first of these alerts applies from Valentia to Erris Head to Fair Head and is active between 1pm and 10pm on Monday.

The second warning applies from Valentia to Erris Head to Fair Head and will be active between 7pm on Monday and 4am on Tuesday.
