ISRAELI POLICE HAVE CLASHED WITH Palestinian-Israeli protesters as a right-wing nationalist Israeli group attempted to hold a march in Umm al-Fahm, northern Israel.

The group is considered to be very hostile to the Palestinian minority living within Israel, and were prevented from holding a planned rally due to the trouble which erupted, according to the BBC.

Umm al-Fahm is the second-largest Arab town inside Israel.

Al Jazeera reports that police fired tear gas into a crowd of protesters after dozens of Palestinians threw stones at them. Al Jazeera’s correspondent Sherine Tadros tweeted from the scene:

Islamic movement say up to 15 palest israelis injured,mainly tear gas inhalation,inc one parlt member.

Police had earlier attempted to block the march by refusing requests for the group to hold its rally over security concerns, but an Israeli court overruled the decision, CNN reports. Riot police had been deployed to the area in anticipation of violent reactions to the march.

Several people have been arrested and police dispersed the crowds using stun grenades as well as tear gas, according to the AP.
