Inquest into 'Disappeared' victim's death takes place

Family of victim, 21 year old Peter Wilson, said to be “relieved” after inquest.

THE INQUEST INTO the death of Peter Wilson, one of Northern Ireland’s ‘Disappeared’, took place yesterday.

Belfast Coroner’s Court heard that the young man, who was 21 years old when he went missing and had special educational needs, was shot in the back of the head in what was described as an “execution”.

He went missing in 1973 in Belfast after being abducted by republicans.

Mr Wilson’s remains were discovered at an Antrim beach last year. Information was passed to the authorities about the location of his body.

His family said that the inquest  brought them “closer to finding closure”.
