Agency appoints statutory receiver after former billionaire fails to agree how to pay down his debts.

FORMER TYCOON JIM Mansfield has had a statutory receiver appointed to assets owned by him and his family today.

NAMA has appointed Kieran Wallace of KPMG to control assets including the Weston Aerodrome, six apartment blocks near Citywest on the outskirts of Dublin and Palmerstown House golf club in Kildare.

Newstalk reports that NAMA took the decision after Mansfield, 71, failed to agree a business plan with the agency to pay down his debts.

His company went into liquidation in January, owing €192m to creditors including golfer Christy O’Connor Jr. He told The Sunday Independent at that time that he wouldn’t walk away from his creditors.
