A MAN AND woman who were arrested yesterday in connection with the fatal Creeslough explosion in 2022 have been released without charge.
The two individuals, both in their 40s, were arrested yesterday morning.
They have since been released without charge, according to an update from gardaí.
“The investigation, led by Gardaí in the Donegal Division, is ongoing with the intention of submitting a file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions,” a garda statement said.
Ten people were killed in the explosion in Creeslough, Co Donegal in 2022: Robert Garwe and his five-year-old daughter Shauna Flanagan-Garwe; fashion student Jessica Gallagher; Celtic fan Martin McGill; Sydney native James O’Flaherty; Catherine O’Donnell and her 13-year-old son James Monaghan; shop worker Martina Martin; 14-year-old Leona Harper; and carpenter Hugh Kelly.
The investigation is being led by local gardaí in the Donegal, with support from the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation and other agencies including the Health and Safety Authority and the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities.
Two men were arrested in March as part of the investigation and subsequently released without charge.
