Man charged with murder following Passage West fire

Darren Murphy, 36, is charged with the murder of Olivia Dunlea at Cork City Court.

A MAN has appeared in court in Cork today charged with the murder of the woman who was found dead in her home after a fire on Sunday morning.

Darren Murphy, aged 36, appeared before Cork City Court.

He had been arrested in connection with the death of Olivia Dunlea, 36, yesterday morning.

A post-mortem on Dunlea’s remains revealed she had died in “violent circumstances”, and had been dead before the fire at her house in the Pembroke Crescent estate where the fire occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Neighbours had thought the house was unoccupied, as Dunlea’s children were staying elsewhere and her car was not parked outside.
