Man critically injured in Dublin city centre assault

Gardaí issue appeal for witnesses to incident in which man in his late 20s was seriously injured on Lower Abbey Street on Friday night.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING FOR witnesses to a serious assault in Dublin city centre on Friday night to come forward.

Two men, one in his last 20s and one in his 30s, became involved in an alercation outside the Irish Life Mall building on Lower Abbey Street.

The man in his 20s was subsequently taken to the Mater Hospital with serious injuries and remains in critical condition.

Gardaí are asking anyone who was in the Lower Abbey Street area between 10.15pm and 10.30pm on Friday night and witnessed the incident to contact them on 01 666 8000 or on the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.

People on board a 33 bus on Lower Abbey Street at the time may also have witnessed the incident.
