Cyclist in his 50s dies from injuries sustained in road crash at the weekend

The incident happened on the R314 Rathroeen on Sunday evening.

GARDAÍ IN MAYO are appealing for witnesses to a crash on Sunday evening near Ballina which left a male cyclist dead.

The man, in his 50s, was involved in a collision with a car on the R314 Rathroeen, Ballina, Co Mayo on Sunday 28 May at around 5pm.

He sustained serious injuries and was taken to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar. The man died yesterday as a result of these injuries.

The scene of the crash was examined by garda forensic investigators. The local coroner has also been notified.

Investigating gardaí are asking anyone with information to contact Ballina Garda Station on 096 20560, the garda confidential line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
