Man in his 40s killed in collision between car and lorry in Co Cavan

The road remains closed pending a technical examination.

A MAN IN his 40s has died in a road traffic collision in Co Cavan.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which occurred shortly before 7:30am today on the R192 at Corcloughan, Shercock and involved a lorry and a car.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene and the lorry driver, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital. 

The road remains closed pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions remain in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. Road users who were in the area at the time and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
