Man killed in Waterford car crash

The man in his 70s was fatally injured in a collision with another car.

GARDAÍ IN TRAMORE are investigating a fatal two-car collision that occurred in Moonvoy yesterday evening.

A man in his 70s died when the car he was driving was involved in a crash with a second vehicle at about 5pm.

The driver of the second car was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

A technical examination of the scene was carried out by forensic investigators. Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact the local station.

Last night, a 51-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a car at Kylebrack Estate in Loughrea, county Galway.

The two deaths bring the number of fatal collisions on Irish roads for 2013 to 24. That figure is already greater than the corresponding data for the first two months of 2012.
