SIX MEN WHO were arrested by gardaí as part of ongoing operations into the activities of dissident republicans remain in custody this morning.
The men were arrested after gardaí attached to the Special Detective Unit and the Louth-Meath Division stopped an articulated lorry on the M1 at Drogheda, Co Louth at approximately 11pm on 19 June.
They discovered that the lorry the men was driving had been stolen. It contained an assignment of alcohol while a second trailer that was also seized contained alcohol.
Three men (in their 30′s) were arrested at the scene and were brought to Balbriggan and Drogheda Garda Stations under the provisions of Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.
Another three men were arrested in Delvin Co Westmeath and also brought in for questioning.
