Motorcyclist killed in single-vehicle crash in Co Mayo last night

The crash happened on the R331 at Friarsquarter East, Ballinrobe at around 7.40pm on Tuesday.

A MOTORCYCLIST HAS died in a single-vehicle crash in Co Mayo. 

The crash happened on the R331 at Friarsquarter East, Ballinrobe at around 7.40pm last night. 

The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to Mayo University Hospital.

The Coroner has been informed and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The road was preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.

They are particularly appealing to any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, and who were travelling in the area between 7.30pm and 8.30pm on Tuesday, 17 June to make this footage available to them.
