Female entrepreneurs, mark National Women's Enterprise Day in your calendar

Tuesday 16 October is all about Irish women in business.

IF YOU’RE AN Irish woman with ideas, whether an established entrepreneur or simply trying to break into the world of business, then you’ll want to mark 16 October in your calendar.

National Women’s Enterprise Day (NWED), an initiative by Local Enterprise Offices across Ireland, is now in its nineteenth year. With 15 events taking place across the country to encourage, inform and inspire female entrepreneurs to take their next steps towards success in business.

While help is available all year round through the Local Enterprise Offices, NWED is a wonderful opportunity for female entrepreneurs to step into the spotlight while encouraging and giving those thinking about launching their own business a supportive nudge in the right direction.

Speaking ahead of this year’s slate of events, Chair of National Women’s Enterprise Day Aileen McGrath said: “National Women’s Enterprise Day is a significant event on the enterprise calendar every year.  It’s an opportunity to look back and celebrate what has been achieved by some amazing female entrepreneurs and look forward at the opportunities that lie ahead. To hear about the challenges that have been overcome and the successes achieved. “

There is a range of events taking place across the country, all of them featuring inspiring stories of Irish women in business from different backgrounds. Whether you’re looking for expert insights or pure inspiration, these leaders will be telling their stories of the challenges and successes that come with running a business, specifically through the lens of a female entrepreneur.

“If you look across the list of events this year there is an amazing diversity of speakers and content that appeals to people at every stage of business. Whether you simply have a great idea or want to try something new in your business there is something for you,” McGrath said.

Events this year include inspiring panels, discussions and seminars led by women who have broken down walls and made their way in business. A full list of events can be found here, and you’ll want to act fast because these events regularly sell out.

These events are taking place in every corner of the country, from Kerry to Donegal.

“It’s a day of celebration and empowerment to show women in business that the supports are there both from a national level with the Local Enterprise Offices but also that there is a network of amazing female entrepreneurs and businesswomen in your area who are doing it and are there to support you.  There is a reason these events sell out so fast as anyone who has attended will attest to and we’re looking forward to another fantastic National Women’s Enterprise Day.”
