Niagara Falls went green last night

Over 200 iconic sites will ‘go green’ this weekend to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.

NIAGARA FALLS WENT green last night to prepare for St Patrick’s Day this Friday.

Housing minister Simon Coveney is in Canada at the moment as part of the ‘Promote Ireland’ programme around St Patrick’s Day – helping to grow tourism to Ireland.

And to welcome him, Canadian authorities turned the giant waterfall green – as is expected by the Irish community.

This is just one of over 200 famous landmarks and iconic sites which will go green this week, as part of Tourism Ireland’s annual Global Greening initiative.
4.5 million Canadians claim Irish heritage, with seven million people in Canada recorded as immigrants.

To celebrate St Patrick’s Day, there will be parades in Ottawa, Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.
