What’s going on in Leinster House? Well, as you asked…

WHAT’S GOING ON in Leinster House?

Every day the Dáil and Seanad are sitting, TheJournal.ie brings you the most comprehensive guide to what our lawmakers are getting up to in the Houses of the Oireachtas.

So, here is what we can expect to be happening in the Dáil, Seanad and Committee rooms today…

One thing we’ll be keeping an eye on

Everything else that’s happening in the Dáil

  • But while Senators will be in Leinster House for the whole week, TDs will only be sitting on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, as it stands.

Everything that’s happening in the Seanad

  • Senators begin their day with the usual Order of Business where everything and anything discussed from 2pm.
  • The first bill before the house this week is the Local Government Bill, which overhauls local government by reducing the number of councillors and abolishing town councils ahead of next year’s local elections. Discussion on second stage begins at 3pm.
  • At 7pm, senators will discuss the second stage of the Pyrite Resolution Bill 2013 which will provide for remedial works on affected homes in the New Year.
  • Then at 8.30pm we have the report stage of the Water Services Bill, which transfers powers for water provision in the State from local authorities to the new agency Irish Water.
  • At 10.30pm, it’s Matters on the Adjournment before the Seanad itself adjourns

Everything else that’s happening in the Committees

    • No committees today but they will be sitting tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday.
