Potential job losses at Pepsi plant in Cork
Two dozen jobs could be affected as the company looks to outsource the roles to IBM.
PEPSICO IS CONSULTING with financial staff at its Carrigaline plant in Cork as the company looks to outsource the roles.
It is understood the move could impact up to two dozen jobs at the plant.
In a statement this morning, the company said that “some transaction processing and certain accounting work” had been identified as not serving a “core business” function at the plant.
“We are proposing to transfer that work to IBM,” the statement read.
This will enable these services to be delivered in a more streamlined and efficient manner.
“These are never easy decisions, and we recognise that this will be disappointing news for our employees,” it continued, “However, we are committed to providing those potentially impacted with our full support and assistance.”
The multinational company employs more than 200,000 worldwide, and manufactures products such as Pepsi and 7Up soft drinks and Walkers crisps.
