Twenty-year-old man arrested over Phoenix Park murder

Gardaí have now made two arrests in relation to the gruesome discovery of a burnt body on Friday morning.

A SECOND MAN has been arrested by gardaí investigating the death of a 27-year-old man in the Phoenix Park last Friday.

The 20-year-old was detained this morning in Dublin’s city centre. He is being questioned at Finglas garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The 27-year-old arrested yesterday remains in custody and investigations are ongoing.

Gardaí have not yet released the identity of the victim. He was beaten up and then set on fire in the early hours of Friday morning near the Wellington monument in the park. The area is used by homeless people and others to sleep rough.
