Poll: As a customer, do you think tips should be pooled?

There are a number of different ways in which your tip can be used, reports the Irish Times.

HOW DO YOU want your tip to be used?

Today, the Irish Times reports the different ways in which tips can be used: some waiters claim that they’re absorbed into the restaurants general cashflow, particularly if they’re paid by card; and others say they’re pooled among all staff, which some lower-paid workers feel can be unfair.

So we’re asking you, do you think you tip should be pooled among all staff or kept to the waiter or waitress who served you?

Poll Results:

The waiter who served me (7081)
Shared among all staff (5159)
The waiter and chef who served me (2800)
I don't usually tip (786)
I don't know (269)
