Poll: Should sports sponsorship by alcohol companies be banned?

We’d like to know what you think…

THE COALITION IS continuing to to discuss a set of measures to ban sports sponsorship by alcohol companies.

The proposals would seek to replace the revenue lost through banning below-cost drinks and advertising with measures such as special taxes or exchequer grants.

Concerns about the impact that such a ban could have on sports organisations, which have until now relied on sponsors for major sporting events such as the Heineken Cup, have been raised.

On the other hand, the prevalence of alcohol advertising at sports events has been linked to unhealthy attitudes towards drinking.

We’d like to know what you think: should sports sponsorship by alcohol companies be banned?
