'Positive prospects' for girl injured in Parnell Square attack who will return to school in September

The girl had been at school full-time in May in what her parents described as a “very special institution”.

THE FAMILY OF a girl who was severely injured when she was attacked in a mass stabbing outside her Gaelscoil on Parnell Square say she has come a long way in her recovery and will return to school in September.

The girl had been at school full-time in May in what her parents described as a “very special institution” that went “above and beyond” to make her “feel part of the group”.

In November 2023, the girl was attacked alongside two other young students and a carer in the afternoon outside her school. Since her attack, her family have released infrequent updates on the now six-year-old’s condition.

In the latest update, they said her prospects are positive.

“We have been sailing through the summer holidays, but very little resting has happened,” they said.

“Our darling girl has had back-to-back physio, occupational, and speech and language therapies.

“She has come quite far, and prospects are positive. She is taking this bootcamp like a champ!”

They said she’ll go to school again in September.
