PSNI investigate reports of 'blast' near police officers

Part of a motorway has been closed while police carry out an investigation.

THE PSNI IS investigating reports of a blast close to some on-duty police officers on Saturday night.

Police are carrying out further searches at the M5 motorway near Belfast today following the reports of the incident in the Hazelbank area at around 9.15pm last night.

Nobody was hurt in the incident.

A road in the area has been closed since just after 8 o’clock this morning as investigations continue. The PSNI has said it will be some considerable time before the road will reopen.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the M5 between Greencastle and Hazelbank.
