LAST MONTH WE brought you the smart-looking videos that Fine Gael produced for their European election hopefuls and while other parties and candidates don’t have the resources for such productions that hasn’t stopped several less-professional efforts.
We’ve come across quite a few in recent weeks and we’re bringing you a selection today.
However quite frankly it’s going to be hard for anyone to top Senator Rónán Mullen, who is running in Midlands North West, dancing to Pharrell’s hit tune ‘Happy’.
1. It’s the very definition of dad dancing from the independent candidate (around 28 seconds in):
2. Mullen faces competition in the same constituency from Labour’s Lorraine Higgins and in the video stakes with her impressive camogie skills just pipping Mullen’s dad dancing:
3. But what about Martin Lonergan who wants your votes and, as his song reminds us, to text your sisters, brothers, and others to get them to vote for him too (includes bonus Mattie McGrath selfie):
4. What’s this! Here’s Lorraine Higgins again as she attempts to climb Croagh Patrick. “This is so easy,” she claims:
5. No such mountaineering from Mary Fitzpatrick. The Fianna Fáil candidate goes for the Fine Gael-esque iconic shot of her looking into the distance and a bit of uplifting music:
6. Finally, and speaking of Fine Gael, here’s their latest effort for Dublin West candidate Eamonn Coghlan. Yes, the former World Champion runner who loves nothing more than running around his constituency in a vest that says Dublin on it. No, really:
