A NUMBER OF students have occupied the grounds of the Department of Education in Dublin.
On a Facebook page about the so-called “surprise conference” organisers said that there were approximately 100 student activists occupying the grounds of the Department of Education, on Marlborough Street in Dublin. They said that those attending were engaged in a discussion about “alternative education”.
The page indicates that the event has been planned to take place from 09:30 – 18:30.
A spokesperson for the department confirmed to TheJournal.ie that a number of protesters had entered the grounds and erected a marquee, but denied there were as many as 100.
