AFTER SIGNING A lucrative three-year deal with some of Las Vegas’s biggest nightclubs, DJ Calvin Harris is now worth almost €100 million according to the latest Sunday Times rich list.
The Scottish electronic superstar is the biggest musical new-entry in the rankings of Ireland and the UK’s wealthiest people. He comes in 30th place with a estimated wealth of €96 million.
Harris reportedly earns €1 million per show as part of his deal to be the resident DJ of the Hakkasan Group in Las Vegas. The 31-year-old is the top draw at the Hakkasan Nightclub, Wet Republic at MGM Grand and at the newly opened Omnia Nightclub at Caesars Palace.
Despite his rapidly increasing wealth, Harris is way behind some of the famed rockers of yesteryear.
Paul McCartney is now a billionaire according to the list with a combined wealth alongside his wife Nancy Shevall that now reaches ten figures.
The pair made an extra €27 million last year with the McCartney still touring at the age of 72. Shevall’s stake in her family’s trucking business is worth an estimated €205 million.
U2 also make the top three on the list with a combined wealth of €590 million.
The band were reportedly paid $100 million by Apple for the distribution rights to the latest album Songs of Innocence which. Much to the well-publicised anger of many, the album was released for free to all iTunes users last year.
Sandwiched in between U2 and McCartney at number two in the list is composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Starting young
The list also compiles the richest musicians under 30 in the UK and Ireland with the five (now four) members of One Direction all lining up behind Adele.
Adele sits on a fortune of €68 million while the One Direction boys each having €34 million in the bank. All five are estimated to have made €15 million in the last year alone according to The Sunday Times.
Ed Sheeran comes in directly behind One Direction in the under-30 list with an estimated wealth of €27 million.
