Man dragged from takeaway and shot 'punishment style'

A 23-year-old was taken from a restaurant in Dunmurray last night and taken to a patch of open ground nearby.

POLICE IN LISBURN have issued an appeal for information after a man in his 20s was shot in a ‘punishment style’ attack last night.

It happened in the town of Dunmurray, near Belfast.

A 23-year-old man was in a takeaway restaurant in the Juniper area of the town at around 9.45pm when he was dragged out by another man.

The second man is described as being of slim build and speaking with a local accent. He was wearing a black scarf over his face, a black beanie hat, black jacket and black jeans.

The victim was then walked to open ground at the rear of Glasvey Drive where two other men were waiting, police say.

He was shot in the left knee and ankle.

He’s been treated for his injuries in hospital, but they’re not believed to be life-threatening.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area is being asked to contact CID in Lisburn Police Station on the PSNI’s non-emergency number ’101′.
