Girl gets €18k for funfair accident

Girl’s foot trapped as ride moves off without warning as she tried to alight.

A TEENAGER HAD her foot trapped in a funfair ride when it moved off as she alighted.

Ray Managh’s report in the Irish Daily Star (print edition) today says that Shauna Kenny, 17, from Angus Road, Tallaght, Dublin, received a deep gash to the back of her foot as she got off the ride. It had come to a complete stop – but then suddenly moved forward some distance, trapping the then 14-year-old girl.

Joseph W Legg Funfair, with a base at Tymon Park North, Co Dublin was ordered in the Circuit Civil Court to pay around €18,000 damages to Kenny, who now has permanent scarring and still has numbness in part of her left foot.
