GOOD EVENING

The 5 at 5 5 minutes, 5 stories, 5 o’clock…

EVERY WEEKDAY EVENING, TheJournal.ie brings you five things you really should know before heading out the door…

1. #JOBSWATCH: As many as 600 jobs could be at risk at Mr Binman as the High Court appointed receivers to the group this afternoon. The court refused to appoint an examiner to the family-owned chain of waste disposal companies.

2. #RACE FOR THE ÁRAS: As voting in the presidential election continues, TheJournal.ie has taken a look at the international media’s view on the seven candidates. We’ve also put together a slideshow of the candidates and their families at polling stations across the country today.

3. #LIBYA: The United Nations Security Council has voted unanimously to cease its mandate on foreign military actions in Libya, as well as lift the no-fly zone, from Monday, October 31.

4. #BERTIE: Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has said that Ireland could have benefited from his experience during the economic downturn if he had not resigned from his position. In an interview with Mike Murphy, which will be broadcast on RTÉ One tonight, he also said he would have been happier if he was still in government at the start of the crisis, rather than outside “twiddling his thumbs”. Watch more here.

5. #BOO AT THE ZOO: Halloween has come early for the animals at Dublin Zoo as zookeepers have presented them with some tasty pumpkins. The tigers, elephants, chimps and macaques seem happy with their treats – and seeing these pics has cheered us right up too.
