WINNERS:

  • Regina Doherty – the Fine Gael candidate has been elected in Meath East.
  • Shane McEntee – elected for Fine Gael in Meath East.
  • Dinny McGinley – has retained his seat for Fine Gael in Donegal South West.
  • Thomas Pringle – the Independent candidate took the third and final seat in Donegal South West without meeting the quota, following the elimination of Fianna Fáil’s Mary Coughlan.
  • Willie O’Dea – the former Fianna Fáil minister has been elected in Limerick City.
  • Seán Ó Fearghaíl – takes third and final seat in Kildare South for Fianna Fáil on count seven.
  • Luke ‘Ming’ Flanagan – who was elected as an Independent candidate in Roscommon-South Leitrim.
  • David Stanton - who retained his seat in Cork East after the fifth count.
  • Joe Costello – the Labour candidate has been elected in Dublin Central.
  • John Lyons – who has taken a seat for Labour in Dublin North West.
  • Fine Gael – in general, today, but particularly in Dublin South where its trio of candidates Olivia Mitchell, Alan Shatter and Peter Mathews have taken the constituency’s final seats.

LOSERS:

  • Nicky Byrne - the Westlife singer had appealed for support for Fianna Fáil’s Cyprian Brady, who was eliminated from the Dublin Central count this evening.
  • Eamon Ryan – the former Green Party minister was eliminated after the seventh count in Dublin South.
  • Clare voters – whose ballots are now being sorted in the tenth count, with no candidates elected in the constituency yet.
  • Galway East voters – as counting has been adjourned in the constituency for the night, without anyone taking a seat.
  • Wicklow voters – who will have to wait until tomorrow before seeing anyone take a seat there. Counting has been suspended for the night. The first count came in at around 10.15pm.
