Man in critical condition after car collides with a 4 x 4

This happened in Togher Village in the west of the county earlier this evening.

GARDAÍ IN CORK are this evening investigating a serious road crash near Togher Village in Cork.

This happened around 2 miles east of Togher Village at around 5.30pm this evening when a car collided with a 4 x 4.

The R585 road from Bantry to Crookestown Road is known locally as the Bantry Line.

A man in his 30s, the driver of the car, was seriously injured in the crash and taken to Cork University Hospital where he is described as being in a critical condition.

The driver of the 4 x 4 was also taken to hospital but his injuries are described as being non-life threatening.

There were no passengers in either vehicle and no one else was hurt in the collision.

The road was closed to allow a forensic collision examination to take place with diversions being put in place.
