Trinity College is banning vapes on its campus – should other public spaces follow suit?
TCD’s ban on vapes will kick in from 18 March.
TRINITY COLLEGE DUBLIN (TCD) has announced that its campus will become a vape-free area from 18 March.
Students, staff and visitors will no longer be allowed to use cigarettes or vapes on campus, with the exception of three allocated smoking areas.
The decision follows what Martina Mullin, Healthy Campus Manager at TCD, described to Newstalk Breakfast as a rising rate of e-cigarette usage on campus.
Mullin said that members of the Trinity Health team will be monitoring the college grounds to “request compliance” from those seen smoking or vaping.
The move has us wondering if other universities and public spaces should introduce similar measures.
