Two arrested over Dublin €1m drugs seizure

Herbal cannabis and 10,000 tablets suspected of being a controlled substance were seized at a house at Rathcoole, Co Dublin, yesterday.

TWO MEN ARE in Garda custody today following a drugs seizure worth almost €1 million in Dublin.

After a search was carried out at a house at Rathcoole, Co Dublin, at approximately 3.20pm yesterday, herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €900,000, subject to analysis, was seized.

Two men aged 49 years and 34 years were arrested and are being detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

In a follow up search at the premises approximately 10,000 tablets suspected of being controlled drugs were also found. These will be subjected to forensic analysis.

The estimated total value of the seizure is €950,000.

The operation was a joint intelligence led investigation by the Garda National Drugs Unit and Revenue’s Customs Service, with the assistance of the Store Street and Tallaght Garda Drug Units.

Investigations are continuing.
