One man quizzed over Stepaside shooting of father and son

The 38-year-old father is in a serious condition following the incident – and gardai are hunting for two other suspects.

UPDATED 6.28pm

A MAN HAS been arrested in relation to the shooting of a father and son in Stepaside, Dublin today.

The man, aged in his 40s, is being questioned under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Blackrock Garda station.

Two men were injured in the shooting incident at An Grianan Fidh, Aikens Village in the Stepaside area of Dublin.

Gardaí said that the shooting took place at 8.25am today and that two men, one aged 17 and one age 38, were injured. The other male is thought to be his son, who was on his way to school, according to RTE.

The pair were taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin and the 38-year-old Lithuanian man is in a serious condition, but it is not life-threatening.

Gardai are appealing this evening for witnesses and information in relation to the incident. They say that a silver Ford Mondeo, with the car registration of 99 D 47450, was abandoned at the scene. Two men, who gardai describe as “suspects”, were seen running from the car in the direction of Sandyford Hall estate towards Kilgobbin Road and Murphystown Road.

It is believed the men may have gotten into another car or even a taxi. Anyone with information is asked to contact Blackrock Garda station at 01 6665200 or the Garda confidential hotline on 1800 666 111.
