Armed raid at Ulster Bank in Co. Down

An armed man made off with a cashbox from the Castlewellan branch.

AN ARMED RAIDER has made off with a cashbox after threatening staff at an Ulster Bank branch in Co. Down.

The robbery took place at around 10.50am this morning in the Upper Square area of Castlewellan.

A man entered the bank with a firearm and threatened staff before making off with the cash.

The PSNI is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the area at the time to contact detectives at Downpatrick.
