VIDEO: Healthcare - who needs it, wha'?

What do you think of this Amnesty Ireland campaign to spark a debate about access to health services?

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL IRELAND has an interesting video campaign going to try and stir up debate about the right to proper healthcare.

The latest in the series features lots of well-known faces from comedy including Karl Spain, Eleanor Tiernan, Eric Lalor, Peter Coonan, Colin Murphy and Diet of Worms as well as actor Brian Gleeson and members of the Delorentos. The video responds to a finding in a survey by Millward Browne Lansdowne which found that while 85 per cent of people think that access to healthcare services is a human rights issue for Ireland, 15 per cent don’t. Amnesty International Ireland said that this video is trying to hear the voice of that minority and understand why they think that way.

The organisation’s executive director Colm O’Gorman said that the video is “tongue-in-cheek”. He said:

Maybe by hearing the reasons why we shouldn’t have equal access to healthcare in Ireland, it might start us thinking about why we should.

Here it is – what do you think?
