VIDEO: The world's first virtual reality rollercoaster has arrived
Galactica takes users on a journey through space.
THE WORLD’S FIRST virtual reality rollercoaster has opened at Alton Towers.
Galactica uses modified Samsung Gear VR headsets to bring people on a journey through the solar system.
Users go through spaces, taking in wormholes, Nero 5 and Kepler 9, over 189 seconds. The rollercoaster reaches 75km/hour at its fastest point.
The ride uses individual motion sensors to link the physical twists to computer graphics played on the headsets.
Simon Reveley from Figment Productions, which created Galactica, told Sky News it’s an immersive experience.
“If we put you on a turn, we can turn you further than you are in the real world.”
