The Daily PollNEW FIGURES SHOW that the richest 10% of households in Ireland hold almost half of all the wealth in the country.
The statistic features in the latest Central Bank report on household wealth and has led to some calls for a level playing field though a so-called wealth tax – which his a tax on a portion of the total value of assets a citizen owns.
Labour TD and party finance spokesperson Ged Nash said he would support a new net wealth tax and a review of the current tax relief system, which he says currently favours the “better off”.
