A SECOND PERSON has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of Lisa Dorrian. 

Lisa, who was from Bangor in Co Down, was last seen alive on the night of Sunday, 27 February 2005 at a party in Ballyhalbert Caravan Park.

It is believed she was murdered that night or in the early hours of the following morning.

She was 25 years old. 

Detectives from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team arrested the 40-year-old woman in Bangor earlier today on suspicion of murder, assisting offenders, withholding information and preventing a lawful and decent burial.

She remains in police custody at this time.

In an update this evening, the PSNI said a second person, a 42-year-old man, had also been arrested in Scotland on suspicion of the same offences. 

PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Kerrie Foreman acknowledged the support of Police Scotland, as well as the PSNI’s Cross-Border Transit Officers.

The detective added: “It’s almost 21 years since Lisa’s disappearance and murder. That’s 21 years of torture for a loving family.

“I am keen to take every opportunity to encourage anyone with information to do the right thing and come forward.”

In December, the PSNI arrested a 68-year-old man on suspicion of Lisa’s murder. He was subsequently released following questioning. 

In February last year, the PSNI released CCTV footage of some of Lisa’s last known movements in Co Down.
