Young men killed in Donegal road crash were both from Letterkenny

The victims of this morning’s horrific crash have been named as Shaun Graham and Matthew Crawford. Two others are still being treated at Derry’s Altnagelvin Hospital.

THE TWO YOUNG men killed in a car crash at an isolated spot in Co Donegal in the early hours of this morning have been named locally. They were Shaun Graham and Matthew Crawford. Both were from Letterkenny.

The single vehicle crash happened on the Rathmullan to Portsalon Road on the Fanad Penninsula, to the north of Letterkenny. The car left the road and struck a tree and a wall at around 3.10am.

The two young men were pronounced dead at the scene.

The other two occupants of the car – also young men believed to be in their late teens or early 20s – were airlifted to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry by the Rescue 118 helicopter. The Emergency Department at Letterkenny General Hospital remains closed, after flooding last month – however, both facilities are a similar distance from the scene of the crash at Kinnegar Bridge.

It’s not believed the injuries the two sustained in the crash are life-threatening.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was on the Rathmullan to Portsalon Road between 2.30 and 3.30 am to contact them at Milford Garda Station on 074 9153048.

Restoration of flooded hospital could take “months rather than weeks” >
